Rory Kent was born and still lives in Norfolk, England, where he has found a wealth of inspiration in the county's natural beauty and in the charming features of the historic city of Norwich. His paintings are timeless impressions of typical scenes which reflect the tender and loving rapport the artist has with his native county.
From an early age on, and influenced by local artist Jason Partner, he developed his skills in watercolour painting, and decided later on, to make good use of his talents by becoming an art teacher. He has spent most of his professional life at Aylsham High School.
Previous to his employment in Norfolk, he worked for several years as an art teacher in Germany's oldest city, Trier, which is situated in the lovely Moselle valley just across the border from Luxembourg. The influence of this area with its meandering rivers and steep vineyards, dotted with picturesque little towns and villages is also visible in the artist's work.
Beautiful paintings of rocky beaches, characteristic windmills, and crystal blue sea are evidence of the artist's fondness of Brittany in Northern France, and the third big influence in his work. The peacefulness of the idyllic rural settings, which seem almost untouched by time, stand in stark contrast to the wild and dramatic coatline with its limitless diversity of rugged rock formations and are a source of inspiration to the artist time and time again.
Rory Kent has annual exhibitions at Blickling, Norfolk, and has a growing reputation as a watercolour artist. His paintings have been purchased by people from many parts of the globe.
